Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

At CAPTAIN JUAN YACHTS, we understand that chartering a luxury yacht may raise many questions. To ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience, we have created this FAQ section with clear answers based on standard industry practices.

1. How do I book a yacht charter?

Booking begins by selecting your preferred yacht, destination, and dates. Once confirmed, we prepare a Charter Agreement, which must be signed along with a deposit payment. The balance is due before embarkation.

2. What is included in the charter fee?

Your charter fee covers:

  • Exclusive use of the yacht during the contracted period.

  • Full professional crew including captain, stewardess, chef, and deckhands.

  • Standard onboard amenities and water toys.

  • Yacht insurance as required by maritime law.

3. What additional expenses should I expect?

The charter fee does not include:

  • Fuel and marina docking fees.

  • Food, beverages, and provisioning.

  • Port taxes and cruising permits.

  • Special entertainment requests or shore excursions.

  • Crew gratuities (customarily 15–20% of the charter fee).

4. What is the cancellation policy?

  • Cancellations 60+ days prior: refund minus administrative fees.

  • 30–59 days prior: 50% of the charter fee is retained.

  • Less than 30 days: no refund applies.
If circumstances beyond our control (e.g., severe weather or mechanical issues) prevent departure, we will offer a rescheduled date or a substitute yacht of equal or higher quality.

5. Who is responsible for safety on board?

The captain has ultimate authority over navigation and guest safety. All guests must follow safety briefings and instructions. Life jackets, emergency gear, and fire equipment are maintained in compliance with maritime standards.

6. Can I choose the itinerary?

Yes. Itineraries are customized based on your preferences. However, the final route is subject to weather, port restrictions, and the captain’s judgment to ensure safety and comfort.

7. What should I pack?

We recommend light, casual clothing, swimwear, sunscreen, and evening attire for dining. Shoes with soft, non-marking soles are required onboard. Personal toiletries and medications should be brought along.

8. Are children allowed on charters?

Yes, children are welcome, but they remain under the supervision and responsibility of their parents or guardians. Our crew will assist in creating a family-friendly environment.

9. Are pets allowed on board?

Pets are generally not permitted unless specifically approved in advance. Approval depends on yacht type, crew policies, and destination regulations.

10. How does provisioning work?

Before your charter, we provide a Preference Sheet where you can list dietary needs, favorite foods, drinks, and special requests. Our chef prepares customized menus, and all provisioning is charged separately.

11. Is alcohol permitted?

Yes, alcohol is permitted in moderation. Excessive consumption that endangers safety will not be tolerated. Crew members are prohibited from consuming alcohol while on duty.

12. What about illegal substances?

The possession or use of illegal drugs or substances is strictly forbidden. Violations will result in immediate termination of the charter with no refund.

13. Is travel insurance required?

While not mandatory, we strongly recommend that guests carry travel insurance covering medical emergencies, cancellations, and personal belongings.

14. What are the gratuity guidelines?

Crew gratuities are customary in the luxury yachting industry and range from 15–20% of the charter fee, depending on service satisfaction. Gratuities are given to the captain, who distributes them evenly among the crew.

15. What is the environmental policy?

We are committed to protecting marine ecosystems. Guests are asked to respect “no-anchor zones,” avoid single-use plastics, and follow all environmental regulations. Waste is properly managed, and sustainable cruising practices are encouraged.

16. Can I extend my charter during the trip?

Yes, extensions may be possible depending on yacht availability. Additional days will be charged at the daily charter rate and must be agreed upon with CAPTAIN JUAN YACHTS before confirmation.

17. What if I have a dispute or concern during my charter?

Any issues should be brought directly to the captain or management immediately so they can be resolved promptly. If necessary, disputes will be handled under the jurisdiction stated in your Charter Agreement (Miami, Florida).
